Transports of water vapor to the monsoon region are substantially stronger in the CCM3 as compared to the reanalyses. In particular, westerly transports across northern Africa into the monsoon region are unrealistically large. The large transports towards the west coast of India feed into unrealistically large local precipitation values (shown in 4.2).
