Information about the 2007 ATOC Student Poster Conference and 2008 ATOC Student Poster Conference

On Monday, December 7, 2009, from 4 - 6pm, the CU Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC) Third Annual Student Poster Conference will be held at the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom. Students from departments and institutes across campus are invited to present their latest research results in the broad field of atmospheric and oceanic sciences. By all measures, the previous last years conferences were a tremendous success with 65 (64 registered 1 walk-in) posters in 2007 and 57 registered posters in 2008 over five sessions: Atmospheric Chemistry, Atmospheric Dynamics, Clouds and Aerosols, Oceanography, Remote Sensing/Radiative Transfer. Students interested in presenting a poster should register before Friday, November 6th. Undergraduates are also encouraged to participate.

Essential Info:

  • Who's invited: Anyone who has an interest in the atmospheric and oceanic sciences!
  • When: Monday, December 7, 2009, 4pm - 6pm
  • Where: UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom (Directions and Parking: HERE)
  • Poster Registration: CLOSED Deadline: November 6th 2009
  • Poster Dimension: The poster board is 4ft x 4ft. Please make your poster fit within this size.
  • Questions? Email Dr. Katja Friedrich at katja.Friedrich@colorado.edu

Poster set up
Please arrive between 3pm and 3:45pm to set up your posters.

If you are not in the ATOC department: Please send an email to Dave Porter<porterdf@colorado.edu> with the information needed for the table below to register INSTEAD of creating an account only to register. Thank you!

For "Session" in the registration table below please enter the NUMBER of the research area that best describes your poster topic.

  • 1. Atmospheric Chemistry
  • 2. Atmospheric Dynamics
  • 3. Clouds and Aerosols
  • 4. Oceanography
  • 5. Radiative Transfer and Remote Sensing

This year the best poster presentation will be awarded with a $200 prize. The judge consisting of scientists from CIRES, NOAA, NCAR and CSWR will have a criteria form to evaluate your presentation. They are asked to critique your flow of ideas, statement of the problem, texts and graphics, overall presentation, and other criteria. These judging forms are used to decide the winners of each award category.
