Linnea M. AvalloneAssociate Professor, Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic SciencesPh.D., Harvard University (1993) Research Interests Stratospheric and tropospheric halogen chemistry; field studies of tropospheric chemistry and cloud processes; development of autonomous instrumentation for airborne sampling. Teaching Interests Atmospheric chemistry; instrumentation; science and policy. Atmospheric chemistry is Dr. Avallone's primary field of research, including the processes that influence the ozone and radation budgets of the troposphere and lower stratosphere. Dr. Avallone's research includes designing instruments to make in situ observations of atmospheric trace gases and analyzing the results, including comparisons to model simulations. Plans for future work include developing instrumentation for advanced aircraft and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and participation in upcoming field experiments for satellite validation and studying the radiative properties of clouds.
