Since 1981, Prof. Toohey has taught courses in physics, chemistry,
atmospheric sciences, and environmental sciences. At the
University of Colorado he most often teaches undergraduate courses in
atmospheric and oceanic sciences and atmospheric chemistry (see links
at left). During the 2006 Summer voyage of Semester at Sea, he taught
courses in global ecology and biogeosciences. During the
2011-2012 Academic year, he served as a Jefferson Science Fellow in the
Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the U.S. Department of
State. He advised the U.S. Senior Official for APEC on matters
relating to energy, climate change, and green growth. His
experiences there led to the development of a new graduate class on
"Climate Change, Energy, and Foreign Policy" which he is teaching for
the first time in Fall 2012 (see link at left).
